Can't we all just.....getalong?

I love my forums. I spend more time posting on them than I do using spoken word. I love 'em.

Which is why it pains me to see ClubCalibra being divided the way it is.

If you like and visit forums then have a look at both:

ClubCalibra.COM
ClubCalibra.NET

I'll always support the club. ALWAYS - even after I've sold my Calibra(s). But I won't stand idly by and watch it disintergrate.

Long live the Calibra... and it's community.

I've heard of rice but this is crazy...

Take a Honda - spend a few thousand and you have "rice". It's a US term for a heavily modified car - and not a nice term. My Calibra Turbo would likely have earned that title with it's spoiler (now deceased).

But this is rice on another level!

A thing of beauty

I do not know how long this will stay up (it's an ebay auction) but I'll put it here anyway.

You liked Gone in 60?

You'll love this!

Adrenaline is for wusses...

Popping the door you glance inside. Everything is dark, black leather. But yet it's inviting you - at first you think "Yes!" but then you realise that this may not be a good idea.

Many times I've been told to leave dreams just that.

But yet you sit down. Closing the door you are now consumed by the interior. It's clean and simple. Controls actually appear to look like they do what they are supposed to and there aren't many of them. Hmm.

Key in hand you glance at the dashboard to see the ignition is near the door... on a left hand drive car. Odd place? Depends if you know your racing history or not.

Another quick glance and time to meet key and ignition.

Clutch in, key turns, engine..... starts.

A splutter, a rush of noise and then a rumble as six pistons arranged in a horizontally opposing fashion come to life and then settle to idle. The largest gauge in the dashboard; the one that is right in the centre; the only one not obscured by the wheel or other controls; reads around 500rpm.

Feathering the gas the engine responds with a air-cooled rattle. It's not smooth like your usual 4-pot; but it means business and really really doesn't want to sit here. Who could refuse that noise?

Gear selected. Cluch up. You're moving.

Gentle roads and rpm feathering allow the thick oil to heat and thin - lubricating everything that needs it. The oil temp hits the sweet spot.

"Redline her. She was designed to be redlined... won't drive right unless you do... over 4000rpm it gets interesting"

A clear road, low geared.. revs building smoothly but not franctically.

Then there it is.. 4000rpm. All of a sudden the car squats, engine note changing completely. and you're off - 7000rpm is already there; next gear; pedal hits carpet; again 7000rpm - almost before hand is back on steering wheel another 7000rpm... the obscured speedo gauge reads three-figured KPH - and not in the legal range.

Running out of road you let engine braking bring the car back to civilisation. Adrenline pumps blood through the heart harder and faster than should be possible while physically not moving.

Taking a smaller road, the opportunity presents itself again... this time with corners...

It was 2 miles to Asda from home. 28 miles later you're nearly there.

No I can't remember why I bought a 911 either... ^_^

Something about a door...

These doors do not open like regular doors. Oh no, they glide upwards - almost effortlessly.
They do not swing scissorlike or even butterfly like - like so many a misworded quote. These are gullwings.

These particular doors are attached to a gleaming stainless bodywork. Roughed up by grades of sandpaper on purpose to allow an easily maintained finish. But yet the grain is straight and still maintains a glorious shine.

These doors are attached to a car made famous to some by a series of movies; to others through job loss and government arguement.

These doors are to some more famous than the car they are attached to. To see the car glide past turns many a head - to see the doors open is to stop people in the street; mid conversation; whether they want to or not.

Owning these doors - while attached to this particular car - become less obvious. They become the entry point to the car; and the exit.

As I come to sell my doors I realise I will no longer be able to open them in public. No longer be able to pull up at a show and leave them wide open just for looks. No longer be able to tell people I own these doors.

So I must look for another pair - something the same; yet different.

I always looked to the future with these doors... now it's time to look back to the future one more time...

Ah another game doth rack thy brains

Here's the Crimson Room.

You goal: To escape.

I did it in just over 10 mins... have fun ;)

Hidden in the depths on MS's website... humour!

Yep you guessed it.. they had to hide it but it's there - a well written, very funny, description of a tool.

It's for something called Tweakomatic... have a read!

.site update!

I've added a new .site page - calibra8V based, funnily enough, on my new purchase.

She arrives next Tuesday - so I've stolen pics and info from the previous owner to populate the page. Nice eh?

I have always loved the colour and now I finally have it! - not that my Turbo won't still get attention - this is just to get me to work (shhhh!) hehe....

It's late...

...and I'd promised myself I'd be in bed earlier. My cold has yet to take hold but I'm not going to be doing much yelling my class tommorow!

Oh well... bed time it is.

But I'd thought I'd blog before I went. For no reason other than that I can. I like to blog.

Night all - where ever you are!

A new addition

I've bought a new car. I pick her up next Tuesday...

...watch this space ;o)

Ah she runs runs runs

After a long sit, the DeLorean got a wake up call this evening.

I probably haven't started her since September last year and at first she resisted - but then she fired up just fine and idled very nicely. Still surprises me that these 23 year old cars will do that!

Even the electrics work.

Hmm... I'll be sorry to see her go. Really, I will.

Camarobatcave updated

Si's done an update.. and I'm going to comment!

He's done another good job of explaining (albeit breifly) the term "Do you do discount". Quite rightly he didn't spend too much time on it either.
I was just wondering if Si knows that as British law currently stands it's within each of our rights to offer whatever we like for an item for sale. That's right - that "regular" is not doing anything wrong when offering 90p for what is clearly not worth 99p. I can just see it now...

Customer: "Hello good sir. Tis an afternoon of glorious proportions"
Si: "Ah, fine day to you good customer! - Please, how may I help you?"
Customer: "I see here that you have listed this delightful air freshener; shaped almost exactly like a Christmas tree; at a bargain price of just 99p"
Si: "Yes; indeed that particular item is very popular and will make your car smell almost like the very tree it represents!"
Customer: "Under currant British law I would like to offer you the very reasonable price of 90p"
Si: "I see... how about Fu..."

You can see what I mean. Not any self respecting buisness man IS going to take less for a priced item - unless it's EBay - but that's another story. But Mr. Regular is still going to try it on! Bless 'em.

I also like his note on the headers... ah many a time have Si and I struggled over an easy job - with a part clearly not going to fit. Mainly by the car's manufacturer! But each time - with anewed enthusiasm - we jump headfirst in to the job at hand, hopeful that "this time, it'll work fine!"

And finally I can relate on his 2F2F comments... if the car's shape matches that of said 4 banger's target, a race (on his own most likely) does persue. It's funny that you rarely see a Ferrari 355 driver sat at the lights revving the nuts of his car next to a diesel Golf - but if that diesel Golf were next to a pumped up (insert Saxo/Nova/etc) then he'd be revved at! Happens to me a lot...

Ageing? Me?

I write this as night becomes morning... one day finishes, another begins.

I remember being young. Each day took many times longer to get through - each an unknown quantity. I distinctly remember the very early dark mornings with my parents leaving for various places of work. In a twilight of night where neither my brain nor my alarm clock were awake. I used to like those mornings - everything was quiet and I was snug.

Now of course, each day is a blur. The weeks I almost wish away so that I may spend the weekends with Gemma. I do not regret this - my weeks are full and busy. Whether I want them to pass quickly or not is no longer up to me.

Now I cherish these nights. The precious few hours between work and sleep. I kid myself I can go longer and longer without sleep but on waking in the AM I always realise my mistake - yet I'm happy to make it the following night.

Earlier this evening an image sparked a memory of shopping as a child. I remember the location but not the date, nor even the time of year - though I suspect it was over the Christmas period. I was walking up a stair case in Allders in Portsmouth - I'm sure some other family members were there yet I cannot remember who.
I looked out the window toward the fountain and shopping precinct. I'm not sure what I was looking at at the time but I do remember that I did not really have any idea of where we were in comparison to home.
I did know the journey was long and arduous - and at least one large monster was vanquished on the way.

Funny things, those memories. Could be miles off but that's what's in my head.

Maybe my fellow peers all having children of their own is sparking my inner child - perhaps it's the beginnings of senality... heh...

It's likely just the media. Clever buggers. A new mini-series (now a fully fledged one) of BattleStar Galactica was on Sky tonight. I can remember seeing that first time round!

My point? Didn't say I had one.

To quote Grandpa Simpson: 'The important thing, was that I was wearing an onion on my belt - which was the style of the time....Zzzzzz"

w.bloggar

I've downloaded a new tool for creating/editing my blogs - I'll play with it and see if it's any good - appears okay soooo far but it's not foolproof!

I can change fonts, or add a line break....

... by clicking a button. Hmmm.
You can visit w.blogger in the next cell...here!

Silly really... but clever none the less

Fiction/Crime

I've just finished Patricia Cornwell's 'Post Mortem'

And I've just started 'Body Of Evidence'

I must admit that they are surprising me. I had heard a lot about them but never really warmed to the idea of novels based on forensic medicine. However, recently with series such as CSI catching my eye I thought I'd give them a go.
The first took me around 6 hours to eat. So I'm quite happy to keep on munching. Very very clever writing.

I have all 12.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Fit as a fiddle

I'm not one to get ill very often.
So as you can imagine, when I do - however insignificant it is - I'm not great at handling it.

I think I'm getting a cold. I have the sore throat, I can't hear too well and I've had a couple of headaches. To me - I'm ill. But I'm also stubborn so I'll carry on until I can no longer do so. I'll even go to the gym.

But this gets me to thinking - what do other people call "ill"?

I imagine there are a lot of souls that put up with common cold symptons daily and it has nothing to do with a cold. So that's why I keep going; because I'm quite lucky in that I don't get "ILL". Illness rarely owns me.

And before you think it - yes I know being at work allows others to catch my illness (however small). I can spread the cold as well as the love.
