It's "torrent"ial!

I'm on the BitTorrent (it's a P2P file sharing system like Kazaa etc) band wagon so here's some useful links if you've not tried it:

Torrentlinks - pretty much what it says. Various links for the Torrent community including sites to get the BitTorrent clients themselves.

Degreez - The client I'm using. Works very well so far... give it a go.

N4P - A search engine for finding .bit files (to download the final large files) - very useful but only one of many...

Link-age B-uddy

First off is:

Stupid Videos - well the title speaks for itself really.

Second, get over to Apple trailers as there are some great clips there right now includng:

Spider man 2 - I know I've posted a trailer before but this one is bigger.. and having watched Spider man this morning I can heartily recommend it ;o)

Riddick Chronicles - Now called "The Chronicles of Riddick" - it's looking pretty good. Not quite what I was expecting but then, the first film (Pitch Black) didn't exactly go in to much detail.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Weeeiiiirrrrd. Angelina Jolie, Jude Law et al in a very odd picture. Feels very much like the "The Iron Giant" and similar films. Could be cool.

That should be enough for you for now... back to the "surfing"! :oD

EDIT:

Eurotrip - By the makers of "Old School" and "Road Trip". Looks good.. and Michelle Trachtenberg... dayam! Buffy's younger sister is lookin' good.

Christmas

Well it's over for another year (technically or not).

I didn't get much to write home about (coolest ever NYC print!) but I'm not that bothered about it anymore anyways.

And. As. Usual. It's. Raining. Just makes you feel all festive doesn't it?

365 days to go (leap year baby!)

Oh, I did get to spend it with my Gemma so it actually turned out to be the best Christmas ever. :o)

Turns out I saw...

.. an XR4i. Just had a nose here and the '81 model was RWD and had the Cologne 2.8 V6. The 4x4 was released in 1985.

Interesting! Still think they rock (and I'm not a Ford man at all!)

I just saw...

...a 1983 Ford Sierra XR4x4 in mint condition driving along the A3. You never see em. I had a model for many years with the split rear/quarter windows in black - fantastic looking car. I think that would be the 2.8 V6 (not sure if it'd be Essex or the later model) with probably no horseys... but still, a great looking car.

Wish I had a camera actually!

Ho hum...

Blah blah blah

Nearly Chrimbo... nearly.

Not that I'm doing anything. Here at work, playing Golf!

hahahahahahaa.... man I kill me.

OMG!!

Click here for a video. About 6mb.

Just watch it.

So cool.

Drivetoish

Hope the owner doesn't mind... but I've added a link to Drivetoish in the .gen links section.
A collection of car vids... very very nice! ;o)

The white stuff

Snow. I meant snow. Geez... ;o)

Well the possibility is strong for Scotland and the East coast over the weekend. Not here though. Never here.
I live in a well-protected area (weather wise at least) and the worst I'll see is driving rain or frost.

Not that I want snow. It's cold, mucky and means the roads will be covered in car-eating salt. How much fun can that be?

DOOM on film... or is it?

After mentioning the DOOM film a friend on CC mentioned that it had already been made and was awful (went straight to video - thanks nicholasp!) - a quick Google brings up these sites: here and here
I'll see if I can find the offending film and post a link to it - the above links show the film is still in pre-production and will be based on DOOM 3... hmm, interesting!

Computer games in to films...

Been a worrying trend don't you think?

The list of up-coming computer-to-celluloid is quite a long one!

House of the Dead - You all must remember the arcade classic by SEGA? Oh yes...
Resident evil - was a.. erm, "smash hit" a couple of years ago.. so, yeah, a sequel is due out next year. Woo hoo.
Likely we'll see more Tomb Raiders too.. the last one sucked on a level I had never experienced before. It was really. Really. Awful.

I still fondly remember the days of Amiga games (hell, even Speccy games) made, usually by Ocean, of films. They were 99% sideways scrollers! Hudson Hawk, Adams Family, Predator, Aliens etc etc.. ah those were the days. At least it was one way! Film-2-Game... I guess it's due to spiralling game development costs - I wonder what Half Life and Doom will look like on the big screen... LOL.

New .site page added!

Check out my Billing pics either by clicking on the word "Billing" here or down on the right... beware, there are a lot of pics there! (38 total). Enjoy!

.delorean page up!

Why not eh?

.porsche page up!

Yep.. that's up too. Now only the DeLorean page to do!

And the Gallery...

And the....

I talk too much

I'm having to archive already... can you believe that? Maybe I'm getting this wrong.. but it only shows a few days worth of posts!

Well the archives are down on the right... ;o)

EDIT: It's set to show 7 days on the main page... ah well I'll leave it until I have a couple months worth then re-set it all! Hehe

A big deal?

So Saddam isn't giving the US anything juicy to use.

Why would he?

Does anyone realise that it wasn't him that attacked the US? And he, personally, wasn't responsible for most of the attocities in Iraq?

Well... maybe it'll help if they catch and detain that Osma bloke. He, alone, has some explaining to do.

Video links..

Just thought I'd post up some video links (car related!):

Flixvault - Top Gear clips aplenty!
Runeb - Loads of stuff here...
Vtec - A forum link with tons of clips
TG/5th Gear - It's got a couple of old episodes on but is in limbo while a database is rebuilt. Still should be good!

That lot should keep you busy ;o)

Trailers worthy of note...

Garfield - Interesting to see how he looks in live action!
Harry Potter 3 - The next in the series... looks good.
The Day After Tomorrow - Special effects galore!
Spiderman 2 - Just a
teaser...
Shrek 2 - This looks really funny!
Along Came Polly - The lovely Jennifer Aniston and Ben Stiller in, what looks to be a great comedy

Super Mario World beaten in 11 minutes...

Saw this a while back but it's kinda cool.. if you're a geek. :oP

.fun links

Some more fun links added...

Milk and Cookies is packed full of stuff to waste time on!

Sunday Sunday

Been a busy couple of days!
Picked Gemma up from Exeter on Friday morning/afternoon and brought her home (500km round trip) in the 911. Car drove very nicely and did the entire journey on one tank of fuel (to my surprise!). Of course she didn't come out unscathed.. the exhaust tail pipes have just fallen off (rusty brackets) and she looks filthy (despite a clean!). Oh well... next year she'll get that respray.

Of course the main point is that Gemma is home. :oD - should be the best Christmas ever.

Monday tomorrow. Going to spend more on two pathetic brackets than I have so far on Gemma. Porsches do not come cheap.

Oh, and Saddam has been captured. Didn't see that coming.

We're all "Doom-ed"!!

Over at Gamespy there is a nice little spot on the 10th anniversary of Doom. Many of you will remember it fondly; some of you are still playing it!

Shame on you...

Just kidding!

Here are some great links courtesy of the Gamespy gang:

# Over at Doom Depot, they've just released a PC conversion of DOOM 64, meaning new maps, new monster graphics, the works. Spiffy. (Doom 64 PC conversion)

# The Flashback project just released a demo. It looks to replace every map in the original DOOM with a similarly-themed alternate map. Looking great so far ... I'm a sucker for episode 1 stuff. (Download Flashback Demo)

# Speaking of which, check out Fava Beans, a superb episode 1 replacement for the original DOOM. It's classic and very nicely designed.

# Outside of UAC_Dead, it doesn't get much more classic (or awesome) than Aliens Total Conversion. It comes in two parts.

# Skull Tag is a nifty multiplayer game based on ZDoom. Its site does a poor job of explaining it, but it's pretty cool.

# ZDaemon is a very nice Internet-friendly version of DOOM. The only bad part is it's based on a somewhat old version of ZDoom.

# Lastly, Doomworld is having its own 10th anniversary celebration, and part of that is an article on classic maps. Check it out. They know their stuff.

And don't forget PlanetDOOM for the latest DOOM news.

Episode 3 spoilers anyone?

Here they are... who dies, who doesn't and most importantly - why anyone cares anymore! LOL!

"The force is strong in this one"

pWn3d!

To modify, or not to modify - that is the question

Well it's already begun.

The spoiler comes off next week. So does the rear wiper (and assembly). Next year it'll be painted up.

The rocker cover is being done in Cadburys purple soon too.

Then the work begins....

"How do you say 200mph?"

:oP

Oops "I've" done it again... silly bugger.

Oh how I try not to.

But I cannot help it.

It is like a disorder. A compulsive one. Bugger.

Can you guess what I've started?

....

Bugger. :oD

.site Calibra stuff up!

Well a brief Calibra page is up.. I'll get them all up if I get the time this week.

It's basic but it does the job. One day it'll be quite cool.. but for now; web presence is better than nothing eh!

Click away! :oD

Hurdle-tastic

Linux really needs more complete, easily-installed, applications on the web. It's really not useful having to compile a back-end program before installing it - then doing the same for a frontend GUI interface.

I had Xine working wonderfully but no longer... oh it should be fun getting video running again!

No luck with Neocron on Linux either. I'd so like to drop Windoze but something always sits there screaming "WON'T RUN!"... hehe...

1+1=3

P2P

Hmm.. Kazaa lite works on Windows. Works - sort of - on Linux too. But I thought I'd try a vanilla flavour and go for something that will run on Linux natively (as all things should).

So..

1. GiFT.. so far it won't compile. Says a variable is missing. Great. Next.
2....

Screw it.. got Kazaa running under Crossover Office... nicely too.

Well it works for now... :oP

A Creek-y ending?

Well I just watched the end.. of Dawson's Creek. I've never been an avid watcher but have certainly kept up over the years. This, I think, was a fitting end - and one that wasn't toooooo gushy-American-moral-issues-crap. I had something in my eye; got me a couple of times - stupid eyes.

Still, hard to believe most of my teenage shows are ending so suddenly and frequently. Okay, Dawson's doesn't rank up there with Friends but that's over too.

I wonder what my kids will complain about in their mid-twenties? The mind surely boggles.

My kids will never have Farscape though...

I'm not 25... I'm not okay!

Heh.. well I tried. Twas only my birthday for one day. Only one. Yet for some reason I'm told that after my birthday I'm still old. Sucks to be me eh! :oD

Great weekend though. Got the coolest present from my Gemma - a drinking Chess set! - will have fun with that over Christmas! Hehe.. and of course, thanks to all those that I got cards from. Cheers!

I'm on holiday now for two weeks. Nerr....

Get geared up!

Want to play an annoyingly addictive game?

I'm on level 15 at time of writing... have fun! ;o)

EDIT: Okay.. I just completed it... still, wasn't easy!

1 day left...

Yup, at midnight tonight I'm officially twofive.

Why does it hurt my chest to sneeze?

Off to Exeter this afternoon to see my Gemma. Should be a good weekend. I get a year older; but I do it with the only person I'd want to do it with. Ah...

Thursday, December 04, 2003

2 days to go...

Until twofive....

Fortune favours the bold... and stupid

Thought it sounded good, okay?

You know, I might have been around for nearly quarter of a century but this country has been around a lot longer. Yet still I watch the same stupidity daily.

Why is it, that if the sky doth drop water on to our heads and roads does it take me twice as long to get to work? I can still do 30mph safely but why can't anyone else? The mind boggles. Boggles!

Also we seem unable to accept the fact that our winter is colder, darker and generally more unpleasant than our summer (though, I'll admit, not by much). So why does the country change? People stop going out in the evening.. I'll use my fitness class as good example - March through Septemer an average of 15/20 people. October through March.. 3. Amazing.

It didn't rain today. Much.

Another world..

This makes me laugh. I'm happy simply to be a 993 owner. I suppose I'm at the very very bottom of the ownership pile though. I can just about afford to run it - let alone be picky on interior colour! Hehe... gotta love it.

Want...

The new P900...

Do I need it? No.

Team anyone?

I might invite some peeps to post here.. for fun more than anything. At least until I add a "Comment" feature..

So who can I trust to post?

Short list.

:oP

.site stuff

Just to note that none of the .site stuff will be up until next week at least. I need time to build the pages and get it looking nice. Which I can't do here.

Plus I have to make it through my twofive before then.

(Si.. you're a git)

Oh to be 5 again..

As Christmas rapidly approaches I can't help but think back to when I was young enough (get that, "young" enough!) to enjoy Christmas for what it was - A celebration. Now I almost loath it's coming.. and for the right reasons.

When you're young it's all about being on holiday, being with your family and getting stuffed full of food and drink and of course... presents! Now.. well, now I work until Christmas day - have to spend a fortune (even though it's not about the money) and I'm suddenly aware of how crappy the weather is.

Getting old. Fun isn't it.

Maybe one day I'll have kids and I can enjoy it through them. Or I'll start holidaying in Florida over Christmas and spend Christmas day on the beach. Hmmm... The latter sounds good.

There is one good thing.. I get the roads to myself ;o)

Of course this year is slightly different - for I have Gemma. And now things don't seem so bad. Sure, I can't be arsed to spend a great deal (except on her where I actually want to) but I get to see her - and that's the best present I could ever wish for!

"Whoooaaa Baby!" - Terry Tate (yeah I can't get enough of that!)

Linux lots, Windoze not much

Here I am, typing a blog on Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1... in SUSE Linux 8.2 (I have 9 but have yet to upgrade!).. all thanks to the wonder chaps/chapesses at Codeweaver.

I've also used Opera, Mozilla and Firebird but I thought I'd rub it in.

Oh my... that lot makes me a geek!

:oD

Bed time.. nighty night... Zzzz

Quote of the day...

There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes.
- Doctor Who

You could ask why... but I'd lie. :o)

Been a hectic day. Spent most of it building this basic blog (gotta love that term - blog!) and now I'm watching "Time Gentlemen Please", cooking dinner (mac and cheese!), blogging and surfing. Who said men couldn't do more than one thing at once! Ha.

Things do not look good in my favourite community (ClubCalibra.. see the link on yer right). You would think that a common interest would bring people together. Maybe we're becoming too American. Maybe we're not American enough. Seems that people are complaining for things that they should not be complaining about and it's causing a ruckuss. Personally all I want is to see, hear and talk Calibra when I'm there - not the politics of a website/forum. Oh well...

Onward and upward!

Whhooooaaaa!!! - Terry Tate (damn he's insightful)

What can be created in a day...

Already I'm getting in to the swing of things... isn't this fun? (say yes or else.. I'll set Terry Tate on yo ass!)
WHOOOAAAA!

hehe.. funny stuff

Need some more pages.. info on me, the maaaany cars and some interests. Damn my brain hurts!

3pm... hmm.

DVD has barely arrived and it's already SO 1972! ha.. ;o)

Go here, watch this, play that...

Quick post to put up some of my fave things right now:

Watch:
Love actually - works so well, even with 10 odd stories running together. I'm a sucker for Mr. Curtis' films and this is his best yet. Look out for some clever cameos.

Play:
Neocron - the best MMORPG I've seen. The game SWG should be but probably never will be. You'll likely be 0wn3d though :oP
Max Payne 2 - because.
NFS Underground - because it's so silly it's fun.
Dues Ex 2 - only if you've played the first one... then go enjoy this one. Cleverly done - but like most sequels, not as good as the original.
Lock ON - this proves that flying is too hard to be fun. But when something is as pretty as this.. well, all is forgiven.

Go:
Terry Tate - hilarious. Just go...
FHM.. for all your lady needs. Has some good time wasting links there too
Miniclip - mindless gaming galore
Milk and cookies - silly site but worth checking out
Match puzzle.. does what it says on the tin

Have fun!

Getting the hang of this.. or so I'm told

It would seem that my "front end" will have to wait. I'll have to brush up on my coding. Hmm.

So anyway - on with the blog.
Interesting things, these. Been a big fan of Wil Wheaton's site for many years and always fancied doing something similar - so here it is. Not that it'll be popular - but it's not meant to be. More likely something I can look back on and think "What?".

On Saturday I hit the big twofive. It shouldn't be a big deal. In fact I shouldn't even be mentioning it here (for even that makes it so). But, for all things. It is (a big deal in case I'd lost you..).
Gemma (my un-nervingly beautiful girlfriend) is a petite onenine a few days later. So, if the old adage "You're only as old as the woman you feel" is true.. I'm doing alright.
But if you still feel the urge to make me feel older or (OLD) then go ahead. So age has PwN3d me. Big deal. :o)

(edit.. second time I've written that.. oh I do love Microshaft)

Twos up!

Second post in as many minutes (factoring by 10 of course)

Well it's up.. seems blogger needs to be edited - at least template wise - by hand. Should be interesting. I've always used Dreamweaver and enjoy the whole WYSIWYG interface. Darn.

Notice I'm still not working. Good here "innit" :oP

Who am I?

Okay.. first post of the blog. More of a test than anything. Hmm. Anything. I could be doing anything right now. I should be working, but I'm not. I'm sat in my office typing this. How odd.
