Map of Springfield

Right HERE.
It's pretty huge in it's native form so beware.
I'm not entirely sure why it exists, or how. But there you go.

Tenerife

Just been to that particular Canary Island and had a great time.. pics down on the right (or HERE).
It's lovely to get away - get some sun and not worry about anything - the complete opposite from this bloody country. Like the UK? You're in the minority nowadays.

Offical pics of the new "Judge" - Commentary not needed ;)

Tax your car ONLINE!!

Yeah.. the DVLA just found the internet!

Check it HERE.

If you're not from the UK then this won't mean much to you - but it certainly beats finding a post office and queueing.

Thats right.
You'll not be surprised.

A guide to modding..

I won't take anything away from this guy's enthusiasm and, actually, a very good site. Just a shame that some of his choices should include those seat covers...

Check out the Renault Clio and see for yourself.

A bit of research...

Page 634784, Section 5a, Entry: Magrathea
Far back in the mists of ancient time, in the great and glorious days of the former Galactic Empire, life was wild, rich and largely tax free.

Mighty starships plied their way between exotic suns, seeking adventure and reward amongst the furthest reaches of Galactic space. In those days spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri. And all dared to brave unknown terrors, to do mighty deeds, to boldly split infinitives that no man had split before - and thus was the Empire forged.

Many men of course became extremely rich, but this was perfectly natural and nothing to be ashamed of because no one was really poor - at least no one worth speaking of. And for all the richest and most successful merchants life inevitably became rather dull and niggly, and they began to imagine that this was therefore the fault of the worlds they'd settled on - none of them was entirely satisfactory: either the climate wasn't quite right in the later part of the afternoon, or the day was half an hour too long, or the sea was exactly the wrong shade of pink.

And thus were created the conditions for a staggering new form of specialist industry: custom-made luxury planet building. The home of this industry was the planet Magrathea, where hyperspatial engineers sucked matter through white holes in space to form it into dream planets - gold planets, platinum planets, soft rubber planets with lots of earthquakes - all lovingly made to meet the exacting standards that the Galaxy's richest men naturally came to expect.

But so successful was this venture that Magrathea itself soon became the richest planet of all time and the rest of the Galaxy was reduced to abject poverty. And so the system broke down, the Empire collapsed, and a long sullen silence settled over a billion worlds, disturbed only by the pen scratchings of scholars as they laboured into the night over smug little treaties on the value of a planned political economy.

Magrathea itself disappeared and its memory soon passed into the obscurity of legend.

In these enlightened days of course, no one believes a word of it.

If you're easily offended...

...then I would seriously consider not watching this. Just about stupid enough to be funny.

Astra GTC

Unveiled next week, the new Astra GTC should go on sale early next year here in the UK.

Taking the place of both the hatch and the coupe it should be interesting the see the complete model line up.

A VXR is planned with "an extreme body kit and a 2.0 engine with in excess of 230bhp". Should be good... unless it's FWD only.

The Monaro Coupe 4

Get over to http://www.hsv.com.au/" and check out the 4x4 version of the Monaro.
Now.
Thank you.

Last night I saw...

I-Robot
Ah Mr Smith delivers again!
Based very loosely on the Isaac Asimov short stories of the same name, we find ourselves in 2035 in Chicago.
Things have moved along quite a bit. Cars park themselves, drive themselves and phones are just tiny.
Will is Del Spooner, a homicide detective with a troubled past. His main issue that he simply doesn't trust the robots that everyone uses on a daily basis. They walk our dogs, buy our groceries and even clean the house (sounds good eh?). No robot has hurt a human. No robot has ever commited a crime... until now.
The lead designer of said robots is found dead at his own company on th eve of a new robotic launch. Suicide is suspected but Spooner has his own ideas..

I loved every minute of this. Not only is Will Smith casted perfectly here but it's not the usual comedy (Bad Boys) as you would expect.
Lots of action and a tight storyline that works excellently (and not quite how the trailers would have you believe) make this one of my favourite movies of the moment (up there with Spider-man 2!).
Go. Now.

Last week I saw...

The Chronicles of Riddick.
And I am happy to recommend it to the big-wide-world. Set 5 years after the first film (and not before as I was led to believe), we catch up with our renagade hero Riddick just trying to live the easy life on an inhospitable ice planet. No sooner to be meet him but he's already being chased by mercenaries. Hmm.
The ins and outs aren't explained right away as I would expect them to be; the surviving characters of the first film all have their part - although not hugely - and there is plenty of action. The main story line is nothing really to do with our hero but as you can probably imagine, he gets caught up in it anyway.
Basically..
A force of men are travelling throughout the galaxy spreading the word of their own religion (if you will). Whether a planet cares or not, it's quickly subdued, assimilated and then destroyed. Pretty weird but also pretty cool.
Riddick only gets caught up because he happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (duh).
I won't say any more but the story goes all over the place before ending up in exactly the place you would expect it not to be. Watch it. Have fun ;)

Blogger's revenge

Wow.. talk about having nothing to write about!
It's the middle of Summer; I have Gemma at home and for once the weather is actually good. Yet beyond that I really have nothing going on.
Don't mistake that for laziness. Oh no, I'm working as usual and with the heat being what it is I'm having to train harder to get the same result. Gemma is doing the same (working every hour god sends to pay her way through Uni), running where she gets the chance and we're both swimming. On top of that I have two cars to sort out (more on that later) and Gemma is learning to drive.
Summer used to be about lazing around. Going on trips and generally enjoying what little weather we have. Before long it'll be Autumn and I'll be wondering where it all went.

Sad but true.

Gemma and I are going out this weekend. We managed a few hours last Saturday (she works Sunday) in Southsea; we both need the sun. This weekend I don't know.. maybe Whittering? Maybe QE and a picnic. Oh - make no mistake here - I'm getting old and now my idea of summer is relaxing somewhere quiet. Blimey.

I have kickboxing tonight. I don't feel like it. In fact I'm teaching before kickboxing and I don't feel like that either. But I'll do both because I need to. I'm not seeing Gemma either as she's having a family day (her one day off to spend with them as it were).

Increasingly I've been seeing some rather random and scary driving locally to me. Just today I witnessed (during lunch) an old lady in a newish Ford Focus doing an indicated 15mph on a main road. While this in itself is not that unusual the fact that she was bouncing along the curb was a little off.
To add to this oddity (and the truck desperatly trying to overtake) she got to a roundabout near where I work, indicated left and then proceeded to go all the way around the roundabout and take the right exit.. in doing so cutting up a rather large lorry that had right of way. How she is still alive is beyond me at this point.
I'm sure I'll see it all again on my way home tonight.

On to the cars then.

The blue turbo - becomuth the bain of my life - is nearly finished. By "nearly" I mean that all the parts are here (bar the 4x4 TXB which should be en-route) and I have just to bolt everything together.
That would be easy but it will not be. Firstly I have to find bolts that will fit brackets that don't yet exist. I'm not much of a fabrictor and I have no wish to be.
Secondly a few bolts have sheared during the odd process and I need to rethread parts.. which I've also no interest in doing.

To be honest the whole project is getting on my nerves - but only because I wish to finish it as soon as possible. Next week I have time off to get as much of it done as I can. I shall be busy! Hopefully I'll take time to take the odd picture - but I wouldn't count on it.

The black turbo needs to be stripped. Blah.
I need to get her TXB out as I'm swapping it out with the blue car's good one.. then the black one's can go back to VTS. So I have to find time to do that too. Yey. Etc.

The Porsche is in good stead. She still needs paint but it's hardly the end of the world and it's not something that needs doing any time soon. So it won't be. :)

Right.. I think I'll catch up on DOOM 3 (the Gamespy blog!). :D

2005 Corvette

It'll be £40k here in the UK. It's $40k in the US. There is no justice in the world ;)

But I'm only here to tell you that I want one. Maybe one day! (along with the 911 turbo and the Astin Martin DB9.. lol)
I won't bore you with the details - just look at it!

Now you've looked.. visit the site Corvette.com and download the TopGear segment!

Lemmings

You've likely played it on one console or computer in your time.. now play in a browser!

Just like the original!! :)

More Linux!

So Germany, China and France all love it (well, their Governments do) and now NASA is building a 10, 240 processor Linux box for simulating missions and weather models.

It rocks.

Batman: Dead End

While browsing a site with absolutely nothing to do with Batman I came across this short film. I'm impressed at what, in actual fact, has little to do with Batman.

Batmobile "unveiled".. literally

You can see it being shown here. Personally I couldn't get it to play but that will just be the proxies here. I like it. It's not the usual batwinged sleekness but a military vehicle with "mods".
Makes sense if Mr Wayne and co. build these vehicles that he uses them - at least in the early days.

Universally bad?

These cars appear to fall in to that catagory. Hmm. Why?
