Two VERY strange auctions!
First is the Size 12 wedding dress currently bidding at around $13million. Hmm. But that's Ebay for you!
The second is a Boeing 727 converted in to a home. Or to be more presise - a company that will sell you one and put it anywhere. It's real too - though a bit crazy! Still, I guess if we were all the same life would be a little dull eh!

The '05 Boxster Coupe
It's certainly interesting and does indeed distance the marque more from the 911 (which can only be a good thing).
However it does look a little odd... but I guess these pics aren't actual offical shots!
Bring back my aircooled!

Surely no one likes the Supra...
THIS much?
I mean. You can modify - but there is a point where it becomes silly. But then what do I know? The modifications to my Calibra already way outcost the actual value of the car!

Engine rebuild... progress
Yes believe it or not there is progress!
Today myself and my good friend Si (1 or 2) spent time stripping the engine bay of electrics, fluids and such before the engine comes out. I was quite surprised how many cables, hoses and clips that had to be removed so the engine can come out cleanly! And I'm not done. We've done the bulk of the work (including clutch-cable-son-of-a-bitch) but the driveshafts need to be popped as does the txb.... that happens next weekend (hopefully with the engine following!).
No pics from today.. but there will be next week ;)

Planet Half Life director leaves...
The article is here. It's an interesting read. Especially when it comes to what the media tells us and what may or may not be true.
I still await Half Life 2 with high hopes - but I'm becoming cynical in my old age and expect to be disappointed. Only time will tell... is HL2 another Duke Nukem Forever?

.site update
I've updated the Calibra Turbo page with some new pics and info on my engine work (ie.. none so far!)
Soon I'll be starting the work but I'm hitting small annoying walls. Oh well.

Engine rebuild...
... so far I haven't even begun yet I'm facing an interesting challenge.
I have the following basic parts:
1. New Sachs Sports Clutch (£130)
2. Lightweight flywheel (£50)
3. KKK26 Race Turbo (bare) (£135)
I'm now looking at:
1. Custom US spec Eclipse tubular manifold ($500)
2. Forged pistons (£?)
3. ARP bolts (£65)
Just for starters!
I have a lot of work to do and also a lot of thinking. I know how things are going to start - with a plastic greenhouse (£30) and some cheap/free crane rental but after that it's down to the (basic) Haynes and some digital pictures. Good eh?
I should think it'll all be good fun and I start properly on Friday with some ancillary removal (hahahaha). Pictures and progress to follow!

Friday Ranting
Two things irritated me this morning.
One was the Police camera van sat on a blind corner on the way in to work. I was always sure that speed cameras were used to prevent accidents - not for revenue. Of course I'm not naive enough to believe it but to see the van sat there just proves the point. I do not speed on that road (not many people do) and it's the main route in and out of an industrial site so it's hardly going to have small children en route to school either. Pathetic.
The second was Mrs. "I'm going to get a cigarette out". What exactly makes this safer than using a mobile phone? I mean, you cannot hold a phone (usually about the size of a packet of cigarettes) or type a number in without it attached to the car. So why can you get a packet out, open it, pull out a cigarette and then proceed to light and smoke it? It takes BOTH hands to do part of that! Effing marvellous.... because ciggies bring the government money I guess that's alright.
I hope her, and everyone else that does it, crashes (without harm). That'll not teach them a thing mind you.
Personally (due to my anal attitude to things) I won't drink, eat or generally do anything other than drive my car while it's moving (hell I won't even do it when stationary). It's a car after all.
Rant over. Enjoy your day ;)

3D desktops?
Check out Sphere for WinXP.
Interesting concept - I wonder how it works? I guess if it could be used in the same way any FPS does then it'd make for an interesting environment to work within - assuming you couldn't "virtually" put Outlook 20 miles away....

Apologies....
.. for being so quiet recently but I've had a lot on. But soon that will change and I'll be back to irritating the masses with my usual garble.
But for those still here I give you THIS - it should either make you smile or become quiet ill.
Enjoy ;)

A Sunday evening's ramble
Good evening Pilgrim. Your journey's end no doubt?
What a weekend. I can't honestly say I'm accomplised an awful lot but I'm breeze over some of it for your enjoyment and/or perusal.
Friday night started off with dinner with my Gemma, brother and his girlfriend La-Ura and friends of La-Ura and Gemma - Charlie and her bloke. We went to a local Harvester and had a pretty good evening. They've changed their menu again and now there is even less for the veggie's amongst us. Typical really.
Anyhoo - Saturday was a nice lazy morning in bed with Gemgem then we went out to see "Starsky and Hutch". Great movie and very funny. Ben Stiller is one of my favourite comedians and he's right at home here. Plus the Ford Grand Torino has a lot of screen time which can't be bad! Beautiful car...
Saturday night was great - Me, Gemma and Pizza. Caught up on some Alias and had a quiet one. Perfect day really :D
Today I put an appearance in with the family unit and then took the 911 out to stretch her legs. Took her up to Hook to meet up with the ClubCalibra guys and gals and met some new faces. Good time had by all again and then "stretched" the 911's legs again on the way home ;)
I settled down this evening just before six pm with Star Wars Galaxies and I logged off... quarter of an hour ago! It's easy to lose hours in an online environment like that - especially when everything is so new and so huge. I'm probably seen 5% of Naboo and there are NINE planets! Plus I'm only on my third pistol. I have SO much to see and do... 5 hours did nothing at all. Great eh!
At least I now OWN those stupid Gnouts....

Only three pics - one of the logo and two of the new Batmobile (which is really really ugly).

Ghost Town
Many things intrigue me about the past. Mainly disasters like the Titanic, Hindenburg, the Twin Towers (9/11) and of course Chernobyl.
It's very hard to imagine what that town is now like and even this site doesn't do it justice. But for now it's the "best" view of something that a lot of people have now forgotten.
Have a look - it'll make you think. Really.

Star Wars Galaxies
Ah yes..
Released quite a while back now but to little interest to me; I've avoided it purely because of Neocron.
However my brother has been playing it and recently showed me around his online town and demonstrated how the game has progressed. Within 10 minutes I knew I wanted it. A year ago he showed me the same thing but it looked and sounded and from what I saw, played like a game missing everything Star Wars is.
Now that's changed and I have it (I ordered it that very day!). I'm still very much a n00b but enjoying the new challenge of getting things wrong and being killed by tiny creatures... all good fun!
This isn't to say I've given up on Neocron but for the moment I'm giving it a rest - DoY is out in the next couple of months and I want to start fresh in that new universe (because I think it will be very new).
Have I got time in my life for both? Hell no.. but I'll do it anyway! Raaaaa
Oh btw - check out SWG at http://www.starwarsgalaxies.com

A week on blog
I really haven't had the time this week to blog. Not really been in the mood to do it either to be honest - but that is no excuse!
In fact I had meant to blog on Tuesday morning after seeing Smallville Monday night. It was a very interesting (read: weird) episode. I think it was playing on the success of "The Fast and Furious" films and the "recent" trend to street race.
Of course street racing has been going on since man was able to pilot wheeled vehicles but only recently has it gotten real (big screen) media attention. Anyhoo - it was clearly a mish-mash episode. The cars were powered by the obligatory "NOS" but with extra special kryptonite to make them even quicker. However, the blokey running it (never seen before of course) ran his "shop" out of a barn with lots of banners in it.... hmmm. Chuck in a Yank tank and a few Jap mobiles and there you have it - instant F&F.
I didn't buy it.
Sillier still was the final "race" that took each car several minutes to get to 100mph. I love the whole "97, 98..." thing where the cars never quite get there...
The rest of the week so far hasn't been anything special really. Spent most of the evenings with Gemma (home for Easter) and in the gym (no surprise there then!).
Oh.. my next blog will be on SWG. SWG? You'll see in a few sentences!

British Summer Time
Or GMT. Or BST. Or something else... hell, I don't know and I really don't care!
But we have "Sprung forward" by one hour in good old Blighty and now it's Spring. So that means April showers and more bad weather. Thankfully that'll be followed by rain and more bad weather (we call it Summer). Of course the eventuality is that Autumn and Winter must follow Summer so that must mean rain and bad weather.
If I were to read in to that I'd seem cynical. But I won't.

Camarobatcave update(s)
Indeed the site has several galleries now - showing none other than the Blog owner's very own Camaro! I say "Head on over" and "Go now" and other such insightful and motivational comments.
So go on then. Check 'em out. Especially if you don't see many Camaro's in your neck of the woods.

This is a great video. Funniest thing I've seen in years.
Been around for a while but this is the first time I've thought of posting it.

EDIT: The post is very old - August 2002 in fact... so things change! However - it's still funny to read.

A fan of the 7th Guest?
If, like me, you are a fan and enjoyed that very game almost 11 years ago (this month!) then the following article may be of interest.
It's the very interesting story of the rise and fall of Trilobyte - the company behind 7th Guest. Most interesting to me were the pictures of the house Stauf's mansion was based on and the (only) shot of 7th Guest 3. I can only imagine what the third game would have been like!
I've recently gotten back in to the game (with the help of a newly purchased CD-i) and am enjoying the puzzles, awful acting and wonderfully upbeat music. They certainly don't make them like they used to!

This is just not right. Why? I mean.. I'm not a fan of the TT but to stick THOSE wheels on is just..... just, wrong.

All you have to do it point your browser to www.camarobatcave.co.uk (or indeed click on that link) and you'll be whisked away to the afore mentioned site of choice.
We're promised lots of activity and a few motor related pages as well... personally can't wait ;)

Babe thread of the century
A fledgling sites takes... a walking step off a cliff
Camarobatcave went live today. Then promptly dropped in the abyss of evil corporate error messages and FTP errors. Typical. You pays your monies... you gets your service. Hehe.
Anyway - things are stirring and it'll all be up and running before you can say "Supercalifragalisticexpyaladoshious" - in German. Backwards. In winter.
Watch this space for updates!

My good friend Si has updated his blog with another funny. I'm always amused when these real life events are actually funny!!
I'm sure he didn't think that at the time... (cough)
Anyway - head on over to Camarobatcave and have a nose.
Oh and soon it'll be moving location - but I'll keep the links up to date!

1.8 inch hard disk not small enough? Try 0.85 inch
Yep.. see it here
The amount of 2.5 inch drives we go through at work doesn't exactly inspire me with confidence in how rugged this'll be but hell... it's small.

The Hayez Squad
I'm really really not sure what to make of this.
I mean, they seem pretty bloody serious.
Yet.
Yet, they.. they just have no idea what they look like to the average Joe.
I say - take a look and make up your own mind.
Look here
I'm personally shocked. Nay, appauled. Good luck lads.

The pretty NSX
A few pics of a wonderful piece of kit....
Right here
I've always loved the NSX. A raw racing car with broad appeal that simply didn't sell. It's a niche market car that isn't cheap or great at anything (but good almost everything). I suppose with money it's irrelavant really! What ever tickles your taste buds.
